Sheets to the Wind

It's reported that ambulances appeared at the home of Senator Robert Byrd, age 91.

“Byrd apparently stood up too fast this morning in his home and fell down,” said Jesse Jacobs, a spokesman for the senator. “To err on the side of caution his caregiver called an ambulance. He was taken to the hospital where he is currently being checked out. At this point in time there is no indication that he will be admitted.”
Uh, fellas?

What is a 91 year old man who needs a "caregiver" still doing with voting privileges on the floor of the United States Senate?

Here's where we can take one lesson from the Vatican: mandatory retirement of all Cardinals at age 75.

I wish Senator Byrd quick recovery and long life... but the time has come for him to retire. Quickly.
